Billfish Babes Tournament
Billfish Babes
A Ladies Only Game Fishing Shootout on the Sunshine Coast
February 2-4
The Billfish Babes is a one day game fishing shootout for ladies only! This tournament was first held in 2014 and was sanctioned the following year. Billfish Babes was designed to get ladies out on the water, make new friends, have loads of fun, and maybe even catch a fish or two!
This tournament includes one day of light tackle fishing making it the perfect day out for the occasional or beginner angler. The ladies have been reeling in Black Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Mackeral and Tuna, all of which count towards the overall score for the boat.
The fellas are welcome to come out and lend a hand – drive the boat, set the rigs and pour the champagne, but only ladies are allowed to fish!
To add to the fun, Billfish Babes also features a fancy dress boat parade to start the day right. Each team picks a theme and dress themselves, their boats and their crew up to the nines.
Our fancy dress boat parade attracts a lot of attention as the line of boats, music blaring, make their way down the Mooloolah River mouth and out into the bay for a shotgun start.
After a great day on the water, we leave the boys to clean the boat and return to the club house for some drinks and a chance to share our stories and experiences from the day. Then we reconvene in the morning for a delicious champagne breakfast and presentation.
You don’t have to have any experience to fish the Billfish Babes Tournament. It’s all about fun, getting out on the water and giving it a go. However, as it is a sanctioned tournament, all anglers must be a financial member of a game fishing club associated with the Queensland Game Fishing Association. MGFC offers a discounted membership for girls entering the tournament, but we warn you – it is addictive!
